Internet2 Webinars

Internet2 Webinars are "low-tech" seminars on advanced networking topics that are of particular interest to corporate members.  With just a phone and web browser, corporate members can attend 90-minute interactive presentations by Internet2 university and industry experts on timely and emerging topics such as advanced security, federated administration, and privilege management.  A pilot series of three webinars will be presented in May, June, and October 2004.  Advance registration is required. Space is limited. Additional webinars may be organized based on member evaluation of the pilot seminars.

Schedule

Privilege Management
October 2004
Date and time TBA

As Internet2 member corporations carry out more and more business using advanced networks and applications, they face a difficult challenge: how to provide appropriate and secure access to critical resources for employees, customers, research collaborators, and business partners while keeping everybody else out. How does an enterprise manage access privileges when there are perhaps thousands of users and the resources may be distributed globally over multiple sites and span numerous advanced technologies?  In this webinar, Ken Klingenstein, Internet2 director of middleware and security, will discuss emerging privilege management models and solutions. You will need an Internet Explorer web browser and a telephone to participate in the webinar.

Protecting high-performance networks from attack and misuse is a top priority for Internet2 corporate members.  Preventing, detecting, and responding to security problems are of the utmost importance to an enterprise's ability to use advanced network applications and capabilities to communicate and access network-connected resources.  Enhancing security while maintaining advanced capabilities -- security at line speed -- is a particular challenge for companies using high-performance networks and advanced computing environments.   In this webinar, Ken Klingenstein will discuss security activities that are being led by Internet2, including lessons learned from the Security at Line Speed Workshop.  Tony Cataldo, a technical specialist from Ford Motor Company will talk about security requirements and designing high-performance network architectures to support those requirements.  Erik Mettala will cover new security technologies to address the requirements of high-performance networks.
